About Me

Jessica Denning, MSN, RN, APRN, CNP, PMHNP-BC, PHN

Hi there! I’m Jessica Denning, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) based in North Branch, Minnesota. I have a deep personal understanding of the challenges posed by depression, anxiety, and mental illness. These issues have affected both myself and my family and shaped my perspective and approach as a provider. Throughout my career, I have drawn upon my personal experiences to guide my practice and better support those facing similar battles. By combining my professional training with this unique perspective, I strive to offer a comprehensive and holistic approach to mental health care.

My career journey started in Criminal Justice, but I soon realized my true passion was caring for people. This led me to pursue a career in Nursing. I faced burnout after spending many years both in management and at the bedside, including in the ICU and Emergency Department. It got me thinking about what’s next for me. That’s when I realized how much I valued my connections with my patients. Unfortunately, in the healthcare system, providers often lack the time needed to provide the level of care they truly want to offer. This is especially true in Mental Health, where patients need it the most.

With a diverse clinical background and experience in treating people from various settings, I focus on integrating traditional psychiatric treatments with complementary approaches. This allows me to provide my patients with the best tools and resources for their healing journey. I have a strong background working with patients with treatment-resistant depression at a clinic that specializes in Ketamine therapy as well as TMS as alternative modalities. This has helped me to understand that “traditional medication” doesn’t always work for everybody, which is what led me to where I am today. By offering patients an integrative approach, we can treat the whole person, mind, body, and spirit.

When I’m not working, you’ll most likely find me enjoying quality time with my family and friends or traveling to warmer destinations during the winter months. Summers are all about poolside relaxation for me.

What I love most about my job is building therapeutic relationships with my patients, listening to their needs, and working together towards our shared treatment goals.

My Credentials

  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - Board Certified

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing

  • Licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin

I have learned that while many patients do respond well to psychotropic medications, not all do. I believe that in order to see real healing, we must treat the whole patient.

I provide customized treatment plans that may include medication management, nutraceuticals, and plant-based options, considerations for therapy, and mind-body medicine treatments.

Together, we will formulate a plan that combines the best of traditional medicine with integrative approaches to get you feeling better and in control of your mental health.

I believe in:

●      Building connections and providing a safe space for sharing struggles.

●      Integrating traditional and complementary approaches for holistic care.

●      Listening to my patient’s needs and working together towards shared goals.

●      Empowering individuals with tools for well-being.
